I help Green business thrive: companies who want to successfully promote their sustainable products and services; and business people who wish to build a win-win-win business – one that supports our planet, their communities, and their own selves and families, too!
Do you run a Green business?
Some industries – such as solar – are obviously Green. But other businesses are harder to categorize. Scroll through the categories below to see if yours is a fit:
Clean energy: Solar, wind, biomass, energy conservation, and any technology that provides cleaner, safer alternatives to fossil fuel. Sorry, nuclear need not apply.
Organics/sustainable agriculture: Organic agriculture products, including food, fibers, and fashion. Products which support organic gardening and farming.
Human/animal wellness: Products and services that encourage a holistic, natural approach to health.
Sustainability education: Environmental nonprofits. Schools and learning systems. Any enterprise devoted to raising eco-consciousness and teaching people to honor the Earth.
Green industry support: Companies helping other companies do business in a more sustainable manner. Examples: Ethical investing. Carbon-neutral web hosting. Green custodial services. that kind of thing.
Fair trade/ethical: Having a truly sustainable society means meeting the basic needs of every citizen of our planet. Commanies and nonprofits working for a more peaceful and equitable world are an important part of the Green business scene.
Local: Meeting human needs locally means fewer resources spent in distribution, stronger, more resilient communities and a more grassroots-based economy. Even if you don’t think you sell sustainable products, if your business deals in locally-produced merchandise or helps people solve their problems without having to travel you’re difinitely contributing to a Greener economy.
Responsible corporate citizens. Other companies don’t necessarily offer Green products or solutions, but are doing their best to be responsible for their own actions. Typically, they are rewarded by increased profitability, higher customer loyalty, and better employee morale and performance. The challenge for these companies is usually to sell sustainability to their own employees!

Warning: if you’re considering “going green” just because it will “make you look good,” and help you tap into the latest trend, I urge you to stop right now. Hang on to that idea, but go deeper. There are so many more reasons – financial, ethical and spiritual – to take a more sustainable approach. Do yourself a favor and read up on the topic (I’d be happy to send you a reading list to get you started). You may find yourself opening up to a world not just more profitable, but more rewarding – on so many levels – than you ever imagined.
